As you may have noticed, there haven’t been many Applets of the week lately. That will eventually change as soon as I can come up with an idea for a good applet. Any help is appreciated.

Making Water From Thin Air?
October 7, 2006According to Wired News, a company that has developed a process to create water from air is under contract to supply U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
“The 20-foot machine can churn out 600 gallons of water a day without using or producing toxic materials and byproducts. The machine was displayed on Capitol Hill last week where a half-dozen lawmakers and some staffers stopped by for a drink.” - Wired News
This will save the U.S. a load of money. Currently, it costs about $30 per gallon to ship the water to the troops, and with this new method of retrieving water, that cost could be as low as 30 cents per gallon.
I don’t know about you, but this sure does remind me of Moisture Farming.

White and Nerdy
October 5, 2006
I just thought I had to share this hilarious Weird Al parody of Chamillionaire’s song, Ridin’ Dirty. It is amazing how much the guy in this video reminds me of myself. Check out the video on YouTube, and in case the words are two fast for you, I posted the lyrics after the break.
Enjoy.
Good Television - Lost
October 4, 2006
Tonight is a very special night. A special night indeed. A night I have been longing for all summer.
Tonight, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time, is the season premiere of one of the most addictive television dramas ever. Last June, ABC left us with one hell of a cliffhanger. A giant explosion, a traitor leaving the island (or so he thinks?), and 3 captives of a hostile group of Others.
For those of you who have never seen the show, I highly recommend that you pick up the first and second season on DVD.
The series is amazingly addictive, and is plentiful with mysteries and cliffhangers. The plot follows the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 on a mysterious island somewhere in the South Pacific. With polar bears, smog-like monsters, a mysterious hatch, and The Others, you never quite know what will happen next.
Another wonderful aspect of the show is the way that you see what happened to the survivors before the fateful crash on the island. With each episode focusing on a different survivor’s backstory, you learn new things about each character while watching the story on the island unravel.
Lost is an amazing show, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you are definitley missing out on something great.
